Early Beginnings
The exact formation of the band yet remains unknown even to its founding members.In 2008 Kane and Hall had met in High School halfway through their sophomore year in an English II Accelerated course. Hall knew Kane through friends Allie Holen and Kandis Ford, so the two, not really knowing many in the class quickly connected through similar interests in music and anime. Hall had been playing guitar for years while Kane had only recently acquired a guitar that previous December. Hall, on the other hand, had different plans, at first both played guitar, covering their first song, Demolition Lovers by My Chemical Romance. After watching Kane grow so rapidly in her guitar playing, Hall quickly descended to the roll of rhythm guitar while Kane took up lead going on to cover various Nirvana and Linkin Park songs. The two quickly excited about their growing guitar skills they decided to form an informal band, eventually recruiting Kandis Ford to play rhythm guitar while Hall pursued Keyboard, wanting to put the endless hours of her childhood piano lessons to use.
Naming the Band
The trio yet remained undecided as to what to name the band, having debated the issue for several weeks. Kane, having a profound interest in the actor, Stephen Colbert introduced the other two to the the series Strangers With Candy(1998). The trio inevitably became major fans of the series, despite its demise in early 2000 but still supported Colbert through his show, The Colbert Report. As a tribute to his early work the three eventually decided to namesake their band Strangers With Candy after the series, in order to immortalize the fine work of Amy Sedaris, Paul Dinello, and Stephen Colbert.
The Band Today
The band remains at a school year-long hiatus as key members (Kane and Hall) focus their priorities on AP Testing and maintaining their good grades. Recently, the band welcomed Drummer Brandon The band has yet remained undecided upon other guitarist Adam.
